Psychological support that feels human

Seeing a psychologist doesn’t have to feel frightening, clinical, or intimidating.

People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief or a difficult period in your life. You may simply feel stuck, overwhelmed, or know that something needs to change.

Whatever brings you here, you do not need to have everything worked out before you arrive.

My aim is to provide a comfortable, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life. Therapy is something we do together — helping you understand what is happening, recognise your strengths and develop practical ways of moving forward.

One of my clients once described counselling this way:

“Seeing a psychologist is one place I can cry or show anger without feeling bad about it. No need to apologise for my emotions.”

I think that captures something important. You do not have to arrive pretending that everything is fine.

We don’t have to spend our time living in the past

Understanding past experiences can be important, particularly when they continue to affect how you feel, think or respond today. But counselling does not necessarily mean going back through every difficult thing that has ever happened to you.

My approach is strongly influenced by positive psychology. Alongside understanding the difficulties you are experiencing, we look at what is already working, the strengths and resources you have, and what may help you build the life you want from here.

Appointments that work around real life

I offer psychology appointments to adults:

  • Face-to-face at my private practice in Cordalba
  • By telephone
  • By secure video consultation

My counselling room is designed to provide a comfortable, private environment. I also offer an outdoor counselling area for clients who feel more comfortable talking outside.

Achieve Counselling Service is located in Cordalba, approximately 10 km from Childers and 40 km from Bundaberg.

If travelling to Cordalba is difficult, telehealth means you can attend your appointment from wherever is comfortable and appropriate for you.

Ready to get started?

You do not need a referral to contact me and ask about availability.

If you would like to access psychology sessions through Medicare, you will generally need to speak with your GP or another eligible referring practitioner about a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral.

Private, DVA, WorkCover and eligible NDIS-funded appointments may also be available.
